This past Sunday, my church took part in what has become a sort of tradition for our congregation. On the last Sunday of the year, we close out our final worship service of the year together by singing “All Glory Be to Christ” by Kings Kaleidoscope.

The deeply edifying song brings with it a good dose of nostalgia, as the rich, new lyrics are set to the classic tune of “Auld Lang Syne”. But far beyond the sentiment of the tune, the song calls us to the reality that all that we have accomplished in the last year, and anything we set our hearts to do in the year ahead, will only truly matter if done for the glory of Christ. The lyrics remind us that we are entirely dependent on God (Psalm 127:1; James 4:13-15) and inspires us to live each moment in full surrender to our King and His eternal Kingdom.

As you reflect on yet another year of God’s blessing and care, take a moment to give thanks and surrender anew all that you are and hope to become for the glory of Christ.
