Prayer Guide: Identity in Christ

This prayer guide, inspired by the chapter titled Identity in Christ in Strategic Renewal’s resource 21 Days of Prayer for the Next Generation, is focused on seeking God’s face through the following passage.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling[b] the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Identity in Christ Prayer Guide

REVERENCE

Identify and celebrate God’s praiseworthy attributes

  • Makes us new (v. 17)
  • He is the Reconciler (vv. 18-20)
  • He is merciful, not counting our sins against us (v. 19)
  • He is our gracious substitute for sin (v. 21)
  • He is righteous and able to make us righteous (v.21)

Encouragement and strength for spiritual battle

  • Lord, remind the next generation that they are reconciled to Christ, especially when the enemy tries to… (v. 18)
